WITHOUT YOU, I FALL APART.
YOU’RE THE ONE THAT GUIDES MY HEART.
Without this, I wouldn’t be here today. Without this, my business wouldn’t be half of what it is. Without this, my passion would fade, my strength would fail, my dreams would crumble.
Christ. What else?
He underlies all that I do, and His Hand is in every moment of every day. He is forever guiding, protecting, nurturing, and seeking. He is a brother, a confidante, a friend. And He is the ground on which my hope is built.
You may read this and be unsure as to how to take it, but let me give you a lens. I’m not your typical Catholic. I’m such a mix of the traditional and the modern that it almost makes me laugh sometimes. My Catholic nerd side comes out when I’m reading book after book by Christian authors, or when I’m taking in Scripture and studying the time and place in which it was written. My Catholic spiritual side comes out when I’m singing at the top of my lungs, hands waving in the air at a praise and worship night (yes, even Catholics do that). And my Catholic social justice side comes out in almost every area of my life, from teaching to pro-life marches to conversations and prayer.
I’m a Catholic feminist, a Catholic teacher, and a Catholic photographer. At first, when I started this business, incorporating my Catholic identity into my work was such a gray area for me. I knew God had called me to explore this creative passion, but I had no idea yet what His vision was for incorporating such a huge part of my life into it.
What I’ve found in the past few months of discernment is that, when you’re in love with Christ and His Church, this love bleeds over. It can’t be contained. In photography, what that looks like is serving Catholic couples in the best way I can. My heart is on fire for serving not only Catholic couples, but adventurous ones. Ones who aren’t afraid to get out and explore this beautiful creation that we’ve been gifted by the Lord, even if it means strapping on some snow shoes first.
It’s not easy. There are battles to fight inside and outside of ourselves. But it’s so worth it.
Life with Christ is nothing short of an adventure. Are you ready for it?
